Eye Tracking Gaming Monitor From Acer

LAS VEGAS — Monitors are passive devices; they connect to a computer and display an image on a screen.

But Acer's got something different in mind. The company's new 30-inch gaming monitor, the Acer Predator Z301CT, has built-in eye tracking, effectively turning your monitor into an input device like your mouse and keyboard

The eye-tracking feature offers another way to interact with your gaming environment. Look at the side of the screen and the camera angles rotate. Focus on a character in a game, and he or she might react.

Of course, for the eye tracking to work, you need something on the software side. Acer's monitor relies on Tobii's eye tracking technology, which works with games such as Deus Ex, Watch Dogs 2, Elite: Dangerous, Assassin's Creed: Syndicate and many others.

On the specs side, the Z301CT has a curved screen with a 2,560x1,080-pixel resolution and a 200Hz refresh rate. Both horizontal and vertical viewing angles are 178 degrees, and the response time is 4ms.

The monitor also has two built-in, 3W speakers, and a pretty standard array of input/output connectors: DisplayPort v1.2a, HDMI v1.4, four USB 4 connectors and an audio out jack.
The Acer Z301CT will be available in February for $899. .
